ANGIE VAN DE MARK

I am fascinated by the mind and what it means to be human. I believe the mind can be understood as an embodied and relational process that thrives when there is a flexible flow of energy between the body, brain and our relationships. Although science has only scratched the surface of what we know about the brain, the last 30 years has uncovered new insights into the beauty and complexity of the brain. A mind that flourishes is a mind that is connected, resilient, and curious.

Honestly, who doesn’t want to feel more calm, present and alive? Yet when we experience trauma and dysregulation we find our capacity to handle the uncertainty of life frayed and fragile. My passion is to ponder the mystery and wonder of being . Sometimes looking into that wonder and mystery can be frightening and we need to strengthen what has become frayed and fragile. Often what has come unraveled has a way of  awakening our courage and curiosity with the ability to see what we could not see before. You and your story have shaped your unique and beautiful mind. Your remarkable brain is always looking for the most strategic and efficient ways to regulate itself.

I have studied Culture, Theology, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Neurofeedback and I am excited to see what your mind will do when it is given tools to encourage its own growth and flexibility. Neurofeedback trains the brain to function efficiently by rewarding the brain for developing more appropriate patterns of functioning. It trains the brain to self-regulate which helps our central nervous system to function better. Neurofeedback has the ability to address problems of brain dysregulation including anxiety, depression, behavior disorders, attention deficit, autism, emotional disturbances, sleep disorders and migraines. The brain wants to heal itself and believe together we can  give it the support it needs to do just that.

I love adventure and have travelled to over 22 different countries. I love to sing, play guitar, laugh, be outdoors, cook, garden, learn, kayak, read, and pet my cat Martha while I chat with my blue budgie Winston.

The chaos we experience in everyday life picks apart our peace and wreaks havok on our resilience. I love renewing resilience, nurturing intention, cultivating kindness and providing a place of peace where your mind can remember who it is and what it loves about life. I want to help you nurture your beautiful mind – the brain inside your skull, your brain-body-brain connection, and your relationships with others outside your body.

Rest and joy are our minds’ favorite place to dwell. Do you find your mind wanders over to chaos or spends a lot of time ruminating about the past or worrying about the future? We will work with you to help your mind re-learn and remember how to stay stable and calm. We focus on people across the lifespan – anxious elders dealing with dementia, senior executives pushing to be at the top of their game, fatigued parents, discouraged folks, adolescents and children lacking ability to attend, focus, or know what they feel, and  traumatized toddlers or babies.

The mind is an amazing gift. It loves synchronization, integration and wholeness. If we create & support an environment in which the mind can flourish, it responds by being flexible, adaptable, cohesive, energized and stable. We reap the benefit of the mind’s well-being and respond to life in curious, open, accepting and loving ways.

Neurofeedback, brain play therapy, kindness cultivation, attention and resilience coaching are among the tools we use to help your brain. The brain is fabulously adept at synchronizing, healing and re-organizing when it can “see itself.” Together, we can re-mind your mind, ease the dis-ease, and integrate the places that are dis-integrated. We’d love to mirror your mind back to itself and watch the healing journey your mind will take.

I love to read (especially books about the brain or culture or travel). I live on an island where the nights are dark and quiet, the wind blows strong and the waves bring gifts of sea glass. I love to swim, kayak, and hike. Eight grandchildren fill our weekends with laughter, hugs and lots of wiggles.
